Soo Kim is an illustrator based in Maryland, where she received her BFA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Born and raised in South Korea, she moved to the United States to pursue art. When she first arrived she enjoyed learning English by reading picture books, which inspired her passion for children’s book. From that experience, she is able to illustrate with a deeper understanding of young readers’ perspective. Her goal as an author-illustrator is to make the learning process easy and enjoyable for kids.  Soo likes to create charming and delightful illustrations, incorporating fun shapes and bright colors. She loves going to the zoo on sunny weekends and observing animals, especially otters and seals, for hours and hours.
