Sarah Mai is an illustrator and writer born in Chicago, raised in Milwaukee, and based in Minneapolis, making her deeply Midwestern. She has a passion for sharing funny, heartwarming stories about the awkwardness of growing up for all ages. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2020 with an English degree. Combining her bookish enthusiasm with a lifelong love of illustration led her to comics, which she has been working in ever since. Sarah’s artistic inspirations are vast, from medieval printmaking methods to The Muppets. Here are a few of her favorite things: overstuffed vintage stores, natural history museums, a good long podcast episode, bold patterns, and purposefully “bad” haircuts. In her spare time you can find her drinking extremely hot beverages and trimming her bangs too short.
