Kayla Mahaffey was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, where she strengthened her skills and painted stories influenced by her childhood experiences. She attended the American Academy of Art and studied Illustration, and during her courses, she found her colorful style and furthered her passion for the arts. At a young age, she was drawn to cartoons, graphic novels, and books, which she references from time to time. She looks forward to continuing her journey and creating whimsical and beautiful visuals that tell tales of new worlds, unique characters, and unforgettable adventures that inspire many generations to come. When she’s not creating artwork for the gallery world or painting for illustration projects, she loves trying new recipes, visiting museums, and hanging out with her family, friends, and pets.
