Ellen Weiss
Ellen Weiss has written over 150 books for kids, from board books to chapter books to middle-grade novels, fiction and nonfiction, silly and serious. They have won many awards, including several Children’s Choice and Parents’ Choice awards, and have been adapted into a Disney TV movie and a BBC radio play. Two of them, THE TAMING OF LOLA and PORKY AND BESS, were named Bank Street Best Books. For over 20 years, she worked as a writer and senior editor at Children’s Television Workshop and the Jim Henson Company. She loves to collaborate, and has often written with her husband, Mel Friedman. She also loves to rescue stray dogs, which are easy to find on the streets of New York City, where she lives.
