Every year, the Texas Library Association selects a list of 20 recommended books for children age two to grade two. This highly selective list is used by school and public librarians in Texas and across the country to select what books to buy for their library catalogs. K.G. Campbell‘s picture book Dylan the Villain, which tells the story of a little boy born to be a supervillain, was chosen to be on the current 2×2 list! Congratulations, K.G.!

The wait is finally over! K. G. Campbell‘s latest picture book, Dylan the Villain, comes out today. Dylan the Villain tells the satirical story of a little boy born to be a super villain and his adventures at a school for villainous children. Dylan only came out today, but it’s already received plenty of advance praise and attention. The subscription service MyBookBox is featuring Dylan as their March picture book selection, the Children’s Book Review named it one of the Best Kids Books of March, and it was chosen for the Spring 2016 Kids’ Indie Next List.

K.G. Campbell’s Dylan the Villain has received more positive praise! The Horn Book, in their January/February issue, praised Campbell’s “soft-focus illustrations,” and the “dastardly details,” in many of the illustrations. They write that, “The well-paced narrative’s comedic timing reinforces the absurdity of the premise.” Dylan the Villain doesn’t come out until March 8th, but it’s already received praise from multiple sources, such as the Kirkus review. Kirkus wrote a review for Dylan the Villain, written and illustrated by K.G. Campbell. Dylan the Villain tells the story of a young boy born to be evil and his adventure at a school for super villains, including facing a rival who just might be even more evil than him. Kirkus writes that “Campbell paints great Rube Goldberg-style devices…and the book is sprinkled with terrific jokes,” and praises the clever details of the story.
